GENERAL:
Aluminum sliding doors covered by these specifications
are AWD CENTURY 230 series rebate frame type.
These doors conform to the CAN/CGSB-82.1-M89 specifications.
ALUMINUM:
Door members shall be extruded aluminum in accordance
with CAN/CGSB-82.1-M89.
GLASS & GLAZING:
CENTURY 230 series doors shall be double-glazed using
factory sealed insulating glass units with a 17.5mm
(11/16”) airspace (subject to the constraint
of overall sealed unit thickness of 23.9mm (15/16”)).
All glass shall be tempered or safety float glass.
Glass thickness and quality shall conform to requirements
of the Canadian Code of Residential Construction,
current edition. All doors shall be shop-glazed
at AWD’s plant, unless size constraints or site
conditions require field glazing.
MAIN PERIMETER FRAME: (THERMALLY BROKEN PROFILE)
Corners shall be mitred, mechanically fastened and
sealed. The frame interlock bar shall be mechanically
joined to form an interlock for the sash. The
fixed lite shall be laid in place glazed from the
outside, with the glass being back bedded with glazing
tape and held in place with snap-on glazing bead.
SLIDING PANEL:
Corners shall be milled, butt-jointed and mechanically
joined. Each sash shall have a spring-loaded,
hook latch locking handle, positively engaging in
an adjustable keeper at the frame jamb. Sashes
shall be equipped with adjustable, ball bearing, steel
wheels. Sash glass shall be channel glazed and
held in place with wrap-around vinyl gasket.
A secondary toe lock is installed for additional security.
WEATHERSTRIPPING:
The Head, jamb and sill of the perimeter frame, together
with the sliding panel interlock, shall be fitted
with synthetic pile finseal weatherstripping.
FINISH:
Standard colors are as per AWD color chart; White
or Rideau Brown. Optional architectural colors
or anodized finish available.
THERMAL BREAK:
A high density polyurethane poured and debridged thermal
break offering thermal resistance and excellent structural
qualities.
